Smile

By: Lena M.

I took this picture right after I got my hair done. I was all happy because my hair was really cute, so I decided to snap off a few shots for our ‘Close Up’ theme. This is one of the pictures that I got, and I really like the end result. I dodged and burned a lot, and I’m really happy with the photo.

Pumpkins

By: Lena M.

I took this picture at a crew meeting that we had in October. We had a pumpkin carving contest and those were the four finalists. We had a face painting contest, which is why Lauren’s face resembles a clown. I changed this picture to black and white. I added contrast, and I dodged and burned. I dodged her eyes so they look mostly white, and I dodged the lights to they were brighter. I burned the rest of the picture because I wanted most of the focus to be on Lauren and the pumpkins. I love this picture but I wish I would have taken more the just this one shot. The pumpkin cut in half, won the contest.

Red Light Kisses

By: Lena M.

I took this picture on our way up to The Tattoo Machine. He was driving and I was taking pictures like always. I took this picture of me and him kissing at a red light and I really liked how he was looking at the camera. So I went into photoshop and I dodged and burned a lot. I dodged his eyes and his hair and I burned the rest of the picture so he was the main focus. I know his eyes are completely fake in this picture but I love the look of it.

Night

This is one of the photos I took for the night assignment. I think this one turned out the best out of the ones I took. I had to lighten it a little bit because it was kind of dark and I wanted the colors of the sky to stand out more but other than that I didn’t really change anything.

Bubbles

We were messing around and taking pictures of bubbles outside. I thought this one was the best out of the ones I took. I did a smart sharpen on it and messed around with the colors a little bit. I wish I would have taken more picture than I did because I think I could have gotten a better shot than this one. But I like how it turned out anyways.

Jones Soda

This is just a photo from a previous assignment. I was just messing around with it and changing a bunch of things and I thought this looked kind of cool. I really liked how the bottle cap stood out against the background.

Drakes

When I took this picture I was in Tacoma with my boyfriend, and I was taking pictures. We started walking around town and saw a whole bunch of old buildings, and I absolutely love old looking buildings so I started taking pictures. I really like how this picture captured the old Tacoma and I like how the colors look. If I were to change anything about this photo I would probably change the shadows casted at the bottom of the picture by my boyfriend and I.

Ritzi

When I took this picture, I dressed up my dog for Thanksgiving so I had to take a picture of her. The shirt is way too big for her, but in this picture you can’t really tell. If I could change anything I would change the newspaper in the background, it is really distracting.

Winter

In this photo I was taking pictures in Tacoma, and the tree caught my eye. I love lights on trees, Christmas is my favorite holiday. There really isn’t anything special about this picture, yet I really like it. If I were to change anything about this picture, I would probably focus more on the tree and take the flag out of the picture.

Holeshot

By: Mike K

This picture is of the Pro Main start in Hollister, CA. I tried to use the rule of thirds on most of the riders, but it is hard because they are moving so fast. I added some contrast and lighted up the picture a bit.

Flowers

This was taken at the Puyallup Fair. I really like the contrast of colors, and the vibrancy of the flowers in the sunlight. I also like the way the picture is angled. I think it looks cool.

Night Lights

I took this picture one night when I was experimenting with trying to take pictures of the moon, it would have been a lot better if I had used a tripod, but I still like this picture. This is probably the least blurry, and I like the way you can see the rays of light.

Giggles

This is a picture of my girlfriends in first period; we’re always talking, and get in trouble a lot. I took this picture for the Photo Journalism for September. I really like it, because they look pretty and I caught them laughing, it’s not completely posed. I like taking pictures of moments, not setups.

The Refs

This picture was taken at my little brother’s foot ball game. I thought it was really cool, the way you see both refs doing the exact same thing across the field. I know that’s what they’re supposed to do, I just like how the picture turned out.

Pumpkins all in a row

I took this picture because I liked the twisty stems of the pumpkin. After I took this picture and looked back at the pictures, I like it because of the rows, and the shadow of the wagon I was in when I took the picture.

Pretty Cow

This picture was taken at Maerys Farm in Bonney Lake. I really like this picture because the cow looks like a deer from a cartoon, like a pretty doe. I also like the blurry bars and the sharpness of the focus on the cow. I was too short to take the picture over the fence, but I like the end result.

Hollister Hills

By: Mike K.

I took this picture at a race in Hollister, CA. I really wasn’t going for anything special but when I downloaded it on the computer I noticed how cool the scenery was. I lightened up the quad and person, and burned the background to make him stand out.

Sprocket

By: Mike K.

I was taking pictures of my two dogs playing out in my yard. This one kept running up to mw to try and get me to play, so when he ran up to me I took a picture of him looking up at me. I like how the short depth of field really makes him stand out.

ATV 249

By: Mike K.

I took this picture when I was taking pictures of my quad for my resume. I was looking for a unique angle and this is what I came up with. I added some contrast to help bring out the reds, and I burned the background as well.

Dale

By: Mike K.

This picture is of my buddy Dale relaxing after one of his races. I took the picture as I was walking up to him, and this is how it turned out. I like how the yellow stands out against the white and grey motorhome.

Mountain Top

By: Mike K.

This picture was taken in California when I was camping one weekend. I was walking around taking pictures of the scenery and noticed the clouds above this mountain. I started taking pictures and this was what I came up with. I did a levels adjustment in Photoshop to lighten up the darker tones.

Homecoming

By: Lena M.

This is a picture of my boyfriend Mike before homecoming. We were all outside taking pictures and I got this one. It had some people in the background making weird faces, so I had to crop it because I couldn’t edit them out. I had to dodge and burn a lot because most of the lighting was behind him. This picture kind of looks like one of those cheesy portraits that people get done for school pictures or something, but I love it because it makes me focus on him more, and I think he looks absolutely stunning in his purple tie.

Mac Sauce

By: Lena M.

This is also one of the pictures I took at work. I love how this picture makes the mac sauce look gross, because it’s different. This is the side of McDonalds that people don’t see, and I love to see peoples reactions. I love my job at McDonalds but I love most of the people I work with. I just wish I could have my camera with me more during work because then I could take some really awesome pictures

Jon

By: Lena M.

This is a picture of one of my best friends Jonny. We were all working that night (McDonalds), and our timers were off, so my manager let me take some pictures for school. I took about twenty pictures of just Jonny making food, and I really like this one. These are the kind of pictures I like taking. I love the candid photos that have some sort of action in them, and this one does. I did edit out a cord to our grill slip printer because it looked like it was going up his nose, and I’m glad I fixed that because it was kind of distracting. This photo does have a lot going on, so I dodged and burned in order to make Jonny stand out a little more.

412 7th Street

By: Lena M.

This picture is one of the ones that I took on 7th street. I loved the house and I loved the little shed in the back. I dodged and burned this picture, and I really like the end result.

Little Hands

By: Lena M.

This picture is of my friends Andi and David. I was walking behind them and I kept taking pictures of them being cute and everything. They were getting kind of annoyed, but they love this picture and I love it too.

Leaves

By: Lena M.

I took this picture when I was driving down 7th street. My boyfriend was driving and I yelled “MIKE STOP THE CAR!” I remembered that I had my camera in the car and that I had to take some pictures of the Fall. I took a ton of photos and I really ended up liking this one. For this picture I was squatting on the ground, and I pointed my camera at the leaves and took some pictures. I dodged and burned this picture, and I’m pretty happy with the results.

So Many Pumpkins

This photo was taken at a local pumpkin patch. They had a lot of gourds in a bunch of flats. For this photo I just used foot zoom to get nice detail then somewhat tilted to camera to get a interesting point of view. Once this photo was uploaded on my computer all I did was put more contrast into it so they gourds and the area’s of shadow and light were very eye catching. I don’t think I would do anything differently with this photo

Pumpkin Face

In this photo is a painted pumpkin face that I found at a local pumpkin patch.
This photo was rather high up so I had to zoom in with the camera and try to keep the focus. Once this photo was uploaded to my computer I edited a little with Photoshop to increase the contrast to make the colors a little more eye catching. This photo is somewhat unique to me because it was very interesting to look at. I wouldn’t do anything different with this photo.

Pumpkin Patch

I took this photo of my little sister at the pumpkin patch. I thought it was cute how she was sitting on the pumpkin and she loves having her picture taken so I couldn’t resist. The only thing I don’t like is the lighting. If the lighting was better I think the photo would have turned out better. But I still like this photo.

Little Pumpkin

I took this photo for the pumpkin patch theme assignment. I think the rule of thirds was very effective for this photo. When editing, I cropped the photo and adjusted the saturation and lightness a little bit because the color of the pumpkin wasn’t standing out as much as I wanted it to. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Jack-o-Lantern

After carving pumpkins I decided to take this photo of the pumpkin my sister carved. I liked how there were shadowy areas and light areas. I didn’t change anything in this photo. I think it might have looked nice from a different angle though.

Pumpkins

I took this photo in my back yard for the autumn theme assignment. I really liked how it turned out. The only thing I did to the photo was crop it a little bit, other than that I didn’t change anything. I tried to arrange the pumpkins in a way that looked nice and I also tried taking the photos from different angles and I think this is the photo that turned out the best.

Jones Soda

I’m not really sure why I like this photo but I do. I kind of randomly took the photo and liked how it turned out. And I didn’t change anything in the photo either.

Flower Close Up

This is a photo I took for the close up assignment. I liked how the main flower was in focus and the others in the background aren’t in focus. I think the lighting was good and I also used rule of thirds. The only thing I did to this photo was crop it a little bit.

The Lonely Tree

By: Craig

This picture is almost single subject matter. I think I could have improved the look and style of what the tree looks like. It looks a bit boring.

Sky Blue Tree

By: Craig

In my front yard I have a chestnut tree and the leaves are falling off. I think I could have worked on the lighting and I think I could have put a little bit more composition on it.

Autumn Road

By: Craig

This is of my road and a part of a house. I think I could have put it in a little bit more focus. It looks like it’s out of focus a bit. I think I did a good job on this.

Golden Trees

By: Craig

This assignment was of fall or autumn. I looked at my neighbor’s house and I saw the yellow and green trees. I tried to get a bit of their house in it as well.

Fallen Leaves

By: Craig

In this picture I found some leaves underneath a chestnut tree in my front yard. I tried to make the leaves closer and farther away out of focus.

Close-Up Pumpkin

By: Craig

I took this picture when I saw the pumpkin sitting on our front porch. I was depicting on whether or not to put the picture in black and white except the pumpkin. I think the lighting could have been a bit better and not so blurry.

Pumpkin Patch

In this photo, I was at the pumpkin patch looking for pumpkins for Halloween. I saw this tractor with a pumpkin on top that was surrounded by corn stalks. I thought it would be kind of interesting to take a picture of the rows of pumpkins through the corn stalks, so I did and this is how it turned out. If I were to do something differently I would probably include more than one row of pumpkins and get the lady in the background out.

Autumn

In this photo, I had to take autumn pictures for an assignment. I was on a walk by my house, when I took this picture. I like this picture because on the right side of the picture the leaves are changing and on the left the trees and leaves are still green. If I were to do something differently about this picture I would include more of the green trees on the left side of the picture.

Angel

In this photo I took a picture of my dog Angel. I don’t think this picture is anything special or amazing to anyone else, but this picture means a lot to me. About a week before he died I took this picture. I was playing around with my camera, and he was lying in front of me growling at the camera, so I snapped a shot of him. If I were to change anything about this picture, I would have probably chosen a different background to take the picture in because the background is kind of boring. The boring background does direct your focus directly to the dog though. All in all, this picture makes me laugh.

Pumpkin Football

In this photo, I was walking around the fair taking pictures for an assignment. I walked by this stand, and a guy was carving huge pumpkins into football players, so I snapped a shot. I really like this picture and I don’t think I would change anything about it. I find it amazing that a pumpkin can be carved into something so detailed as a football player.

Filthy Four

In this photo I was at the football game taking pictures. The boys decided to be really clever and line up in number order and have me take a picture of them. I like the way this picture turned out. I also find it funny that they are in number order, and also in order from shortest to tallest. If I were to do something differently I should have got the bench out of the bottom of the picture.

Brennan

In this photo I was just taking pictures of the football game, and got a lucky shot. The tops of the football players heads on the sideline is a little distracting, but I couldn’t get rid of them without making the whole picture look awkward. To change the colors I went into Photoshop and started playing around, I don’t exactly remember what I did though. If I was to improve this picture I probably would have stood higher up in the stands to avoid the heads of the football players on the sidelines. All in all, I think this is an amazing picture.

Fair

In this photograph I tried to capture the meaning of the Fair. The Fair is a place to have fun, relax, and enjoy. There are various rides spread through the fair, which is usually a Fair-goers favorite part. In this photo I tried to capture the rides, along with the Fair message. So in this photo the angle I chose was the top of a ride, and the sign that said “Have a Great Day”. What I would have done differently in this picture is I would have tried to include the whole phrase of “Have a Great Day” instead of having the pictures say “Have a Great”. All in all, I am very happy with my results.

Jordaine

Photographer: Cory L

So I was basically getting out of the fair and I looked over and my mom step dad and sister were over at crazy Eric’s. I went over to say hi and having my camera already on I took a quick picture of my sister. This shot is of my sister turning around to hide from the camera. I really like the expression on her face and that’s why I used the picture.

Fair Pictures

I was at the fair my cousin Winston and his girlfriend Kayla. They decided they wanted to take some of those black and white photos and when they were done I took my camera and started taking pictures of them as Winston was grabbing the pictures. I didn’t do anything to the picture at all. But I chose this picture because it was my favorite out of all of them.
