I also really like how the trail leads the viewers eye through the picture, and I think the bold colors blend together and stand out well within the portrait.

I like this photo because I think it portrays spring time really well. The sense of green in the picture, with the one yellow flower really makes the picture pop, and you feel the flowers starting to bloom. I really like the depth of field also, how the foreground is focused, and the background is out of focus. I think it adds a good effect to the photo.

I’d wanted to take the picture of a person this time around, so I found my friend Aimee who was wearing all purple accessories that day. I took the original photo in full color, turning it to black and white with photoshop, excluding all her matching accessories. Afterwards I used a warming filter and cropped it.

I took this photo for the Environmental Portraits assignment, using my friend Julie on the school bus. The school bus is a common environment for most students, and in no way are they magical or fun. I was trying to portray how gloomy and boring buses are, so I softened the focus enough so that Julie is in a soft glow instead of sharp focus. Other than that I adjusted the levels and cropped the photo.

This was taken before Christmas this last December, 2010. I just saw it again in my portfolio and realized how much I love it. The textures are really outstanding, being that there isn’t just one. I don’t normally take photos of other photos but this one really caught my eye. My sister has a fancy for antique type things and this frame is one of her favorites. The picture in the frame is my sister and her boyfriend James kissing. This is a photo of my new drums. It’s a close up of the logo on my rack tom. Downstairs, it is very dark so I had to lower the shutter speed in order to gather a lot of light. I also anchored my arm on a chair while taking this photo so that the picture would be clear and in focus. I think the fact that the photo is focused only on the logo, and the back ground is blurry, gives the photo a unique and cool look.

In this photo, the sun is reflecting into the camera. This caused colored circles to form in the picture. It was bright out, so I didn’t need a high shutter speed, and therefore I caught a very in focus picture. A unique thing in this photo is the circles. I had the idea to put them on my guitar, which I don’t actually play but just use as a prop most of the time. I took this photo about a month ago after some squalls at the park, there was a leaf floating atop of a puddle. The sky kept changing so rapidly that I decided to focus on the ground. I cropped the photo and tweaked the curves to get the reflection of the water disappear and added more yellow with variations to bring the color of the bark and leaf out.

I had turned on flash and made the white balance match the lighting. Though I love the color, the photo’s graininess near the edges irritates me.

Another cosplay photoshoot thing in Seattle on one of those trips I take. These two were such lovely, quirky models to work with and came up with the majority of their poses, knowing what they wanted. And experimenting with the photos taken for this shoot was fun. This was my favorite, just due to the general composition and how there is a lot of negative space and the rules of thirds is used. I also think the poses were nice.

Up in Seattle for a cosplay photoshoot of the Valentines theme, while playing photographer, I grabbed this lovely shot. I thought it would be much better if it focused more on the handholding than the actual faces of who was holding hands, because it was such a sweet little moment. I took several different shots for my panoramic whilst in Seattle on one of my multiple trips. This was particular one was taken as I was at a photoshoot at the Washington State Convention Center. Up on the third view, I found this spectacular view at a very lovely time of the view and took the shots that formed this. So yes, it was taken from a window, and that is obvious, but I think the reflection adds a really nice touch to the piece.

This was for the assignment called Circles. This paper towel roll was on the table so I thought I’d capture it. I really like the white part because it’s really clear, and then the center of the roll is blurred. The idea of the photo I realize isn’t as great as the clarity, which to me doesn’t make it a bad thing. I didn’t have to use photoshop because I’m really happy with how it turned out.

This photo is one of my favorites that I’ve ever captured. The subject is Aaron Reiten and the picture was taken at our basketball game against Rogers. We beat them by about 20 points! This was such an exciting picture to take because at the very end Coach Campbell put in ATR, which the fans LOVE, he’s one of our favorites:) So when he was running out I just started taking tons of pictures, I knew I’d get a decent one. This one turned out amazing on its own, but I took it to photoshop and selected just Aaron, making him a brighter saturation and vibrancy than the background. Then I made the background a lower saturation, I enjoy the contrast.

I took this photo at a Puyallup High School gymnastics meet. For this photo I had to get close to my subject. I really like how the photo turned out, I just wish the top of the foot wasn’t as blurry. I cropped the photo so only the subject was the main focus of the photo. I had to readjust the contrast so that the photo would turn out so dark. Over all I like my final image.

I took this photo while I was in Seattle. There was a wall in Pikes Place Market where a ton of posters had been put up and I wanted to capture the many events that were going on there. I like how this picture leads your eye through it and the focus blurs as you get further into the picture.

I like this picture because it captures the falling snow, and the darkness of the night contrasts against the white snow on the ground. I also like the yellow sign on the left because it is emphasized and stands out.

I really like this picture. I like this picture because I took the picture right as the sun was setting so I really like the lighting. Also, I really like the angle for this. I took this picture for an assignment when we had to pick a color.

Better Than Dial Up

This is a photo of one of the school’s telephone poles. I messed around with the contrast and brightness in Photoshop to give the photo a more edgy look. On a small sticker in the bottom right corner is a Quest sticker. Hence, “Better Than Dial Up”. I like the texture that this photo has. A higher contrast helped bring out the bumps and cracks in the pole.

Two Violet Circles

This is a photo of downtown Sumner. It was taken on the ground, and with some manual focusing, I was able to capture a unique photo. The light from the Christmas lights and car lights, focused into small circles. I like the bright colors that come from the lights and how there’s only a small portion of the ground in focus.

In this photo, a spoon is dripping purple water into a bowl. This was for our “Make A Splash” assignment, where we were to capture the drips and splashes of water. I raised the shutter speed to capture the drip as it was falling in mid air. I like the color of the water and how the photo is composed.

Lights In Focus

In this photo, the lights on the building swirl around as if they were painted into the image. I slowed down the shutter speed to capture as much motion as possible. What’s interesting is that the building looks sharply in focus. I left the color and the saturation untouched in this photo, because I thought it naturally looked good.

Bubbles

This picture was taken for the make a splash assignment. I had my friend take a straw and blow bubbles into the water while took pictures of it. In photo shop I sharpened the bubbles to get full detail of them and the really that also occurred. The shutter speed didn’t need to be very fast to capture the bubbles but I did have the flash on.

I took a picture of the light outside in the front of my house for the Night assignment. I didn’t use any flash but I had to edit the lighting in photo shop to really bring out the details of the light. I darkened the background of the light to accentuate on the light itself.

Mirror, Mirror

This is one of the pictures that I took for out Splash #1 assignment. It was really difficult to take the picture while splashing the water and to have my picture in the hand looked tacky so I improvised and used the mirror. In the end I like how I captured more of the motion of moving water than the splash. Also I like the texture that the water has. Not one of my best pictures but I feel like it catches the eye in some way at least.

This picture was taken in the dressing and make up room of Puyallup High School before a Senior Citizen Dance. What I like about this picture is the old fashioned light bulb lights that surround the picture and how the facial expressions aren’t posed or anything, that’s really what was happening. I think the fact that both people are seen twice on the edges of the picture makes it interesting to look at and kind of has a different perspective.

This picture was taken in China Town in San Francisco during Winter Break. I took the picture just as it was starting to get dark and just as the streets were really starting to come alive. I wanted to capture the different character that this part of town takes on during the night time. It really seemed to come alive as the sun went down. I didn’t do any editing on this picture because I really like the lighting as it already was.

I like this photo because it isn’t a straight on picture but instead is taken at more of an angle. Also how the gum starts to just blend together as it gets farther way and out of focus. This picture was taken at the Gum Wall at Pikes Place Market on a school field trip we took. I didn’t do any editing because I liked how the picture just looked naturally.

Description: One morning I woke up to snow, it was different than any snow I’d seen before. The distinctness was set apart due to the fact that there were fresh leaves sticking out all over. Usually the leaves would not be alive at the same season of snow. I used a lower angle than the average.
